Before you dive into the memories and love stories below, I want to thank you for stopping by and spending a few moments of your time with me. There’s a lot to see here, and I certainly don’t expect you to dig through it all, but there are a few things I hope you take away from this brief visit:
First, I love what I do because of the people who allow me to do it. My work would be much different if it wasn’t for the fascinating, lovely individuals who invite me into their lives, so my creative approach has always been to start with great people and build the story around them. It’s a balance of intention and observation which I navigate every day to create something incredibly tailored and personal.
Second, I realize style without substance results in mediocre work. It doesn’t take more than a few minutes on Instagram to see a lot of wedding photographers are quite formulaic in their approach and what results is something that looks nice but often feels very impersonal. For my own personal progression and satisfaction, I need to create photos that act as a mirror not only to what I see but also what I feel. That means my images change from moment to moment, couple to couple- always adapting to what’s happening in front of me in a truly organic and natural way. If there’s any continuity with my work over the years, it all lies with the process, not the product.
Lastly, I’m both proud and grateful to be making art for a living. It’s hard work building a business from the ground up, but I’ve grown so much from the experience that I couldn’t imagine what my life would be like without a camera. I’ve never sought out to be a big deal to the masses, just to those who trust me to do what I do and hope you can see the care and effort I put into creating something beautiful out of these amazing experiences.
